I spent Saturday at the Global Wildlife Center in Folsom, Louisiana. I expected to see plenty of semi-domesticated deer and antelope. What I didn't expect to see was a fantastic little 4x4!

I spotted three Steyr Puch Pinzgauer 710Ms which they use to give private tours (the plebeians like me on the regular tour ride a wagon train pulled by a tractor).
My field observations revealed portal axles,
seating for 10(!),
a five-speed transmission and big levers for controlling the transfer case and differentials,
under-body storage,
and a convertible top with roll-up side curtains.
I'd never seen such a beast before, so I had to do some digging to find out what it is. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! told me that they were developed in the '60's and continued production through 2000. They also provided a handy summary of the 710M's capabilities:
45-degree approach and departure angle
100% slope, or until !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! lose traction
700 millimetres (27.6 in) fording depth
Can climb down a 360 millimetres (14.2 in) wall
43.5-degree side-slope
1000/1500 kg of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! (4×4/6×6)
335 millimetres (13.2 in) of clearance (lowest point when fully loaded)
top !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! (4×4): 110 kilometres per hour (68 mph); (6×6): 100 kilometres per hour (62 mph)
Full engine power available at 4 kilometres per hour (2 mph)
M body type carries 10 people (4×4), 14 people (6×6)
Although they had a list price of around $100,000, they depreciate like a supercar and can be found online for less than !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Yes, I want one....

We have a couple of farmer's markets nearby which carry local produce. We even have a few local farmers with improvised roadside stands - a lawn chair, a tarp with a few poles, and a truck filled with the latest harvest. We even have a couple of locals that make regular trips to the fishing boats to load up on the latest catch. One thing we aren't short of around here is whatever is in season!
Simplify, then add beer
